The Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) test combines 3 serum biomarkers which have been shown to correlate well with the level of liver fibrosis assessed by liver biopsy, which reduces the likelihood of having to undergo an invasive procedure. These biomarkers include hyaluronic acid (HA), procollagen III amino terminal peptide (PIIINP) and TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor-1 (TIMP-1).
