Frequently asked questions

Q: Do I need a Doctor’s Referral to use this service?
A: No you do not require a Doctor’s Referral, we provide one when you have placed an order. This is free of charge, and a consultation is not required unless stated on certain tests.

Q: So all I need to do is order online or over the phone, and then arrange my blood draw.. Seriously, is that it?
A: Yes, the process is that simple.
If you do not know of a professional nurse or phlebotomist we can refer you to a * Circle Health Hospital or arrange a Nurse home visit (charges will apply).

PLEASE NOTE: You cannot attend at a Spire Hospital or the Doctors Laboratory (TDL) for your blood draw using our kit as our postal service is dealt with by a completely separate laboratory network.

Q: How soon will I get my results?
A: We clearly state at the top of each test either a minimum turnaround time, or an estimated turnaround time. The number of days is a guide only (in working days ie NOT weekends or bank holidays) as it will sometimes depend upon assay run schedules. Most results are provided within the time frame provided, but there may be technical difficulties, or the results may need to be re-run to check accuracy, or our Doctor may be held up passing comment. It's just part and parcel of laboratory testing unfortunately. We can easily give you a status report, so please do email us or phone us to chase results, not the Laboratory itself.

Q: Do I get a copy of my results?
A: You will receive a PDF copy of your laboratory certificate which prints onto A4 paper. If you would like a paper copy, let us know and we will post one out to you.

Q: Do I have to pay extra to get the blood drawn?
A: If you choose to have a Nurse Home Visit or CIrcle Health Hospital Visit then there will be an extra fee to pay.

Q: What is the difference between opting in for Doctors comments and the option to opt out of Doctors comments? (This is an option at checkout before you place your order)
A: If you opt for Doctors comments they will be sent straight to our GP for comment, this process can take up to two three working days to complete in addition to the stated turnaround time for results. If you opt out of Doctors comments on your results, they will be sent directly to you. This is advisable if you already have a specialist to share the results with or are able to interpret them yourself. In the event of any results being of a critical nature we will always be in contact to make you aware of this.

Biotin Warning
Because of the potential for interference with test results, samples should not be taken from patients taking BIOTIN in excess of 5 mg per day until at least 48 hours following the last biotin dose.

Q: Where can I get my blood taken if I order a vacutainer kit?
A: If you do not know of a professional nurse or phlebotomist we can refer you to a  Circle Health Hospital, Superdrug clinic or arrange a Nurse home visit (charges will apply).

Q: Is there an age restriction for Phlebotomy at a  Circle Health Hospital, Superdrug clinic or the nurse home visit service?
A: These services do require the patient to be over the age of 18.

PLEASE NOTE: You cannot attend at a Spire Hospital or the Doctors Laboratory (TDL) for your blood draw using our kit as our postal service is dealt with by a completely separate laboratory network.
